Quoting

How long does it take to get a quote?

Our typical quoting response time is under 24 hours. One determining factor is customs and specific questions regarding coverage.

What should I include in my request for quote?

First and foremost, pictures are extremely helpful. Secondly, describe the areas that need coverage. How does the manifold bolt up to the engine? Are there any clearance issues that could be a problem?

Order Fulfillment

How long does it take to insulate my parts?

Most orders take 4 weeks. We will deal with any customer routed shipping.

Permanent Insulation Wrap

How long does the high temperature insulation last?

Although every case is slightly different, the vast majority of our installations last many years. In most cases our customer’s will have to rebuild their engine long before our insulation deteriorates.

Does it reduce emissions?

In theory, your exhaust gases will burn at a higher temp. Tier 4 engines are all about re-circulation of exhaust gasses. Contact HTI directly to learn more about specific applications and how they could positively affect your overall system.

Does it increase horsepower?

Short answer, yes. The greater the temperature difference between the air coming in and the air after combustion, the more horsepower is generated. We go into detail in one of our whitepapers instead of the engine insulation faq. You can check it out here.

Does it increase safety?

Human skin suffers first-degree burns at temperatures above 140° F; an un-insulated engine can reach temperatures that exceed 1,100° F. That is well above the threshold for a first-degree burn; in fact a third-degree or fourth-degree burn may occur. By insulating an engine, the surface temperature can be lowered down to a much safer 250° F. While this is still hot enough to give someone a burn, it is nowhere near as dangerous as an un-insulated engine.

Does your insulation work in all environments?

Yes, our engine insulation excels in the harshest environments including; salt water, sun, mining areas, dirt, corrosion, as well as surviving ambient engine temperatures.

Is your insulation "touch safe"? (metallic vs. nonmetallic)

Yes it is. An engine’s exhaust wrapped with our product will never exceed 300 deg F, even at full load. If you brush up against the insulation the burn is severely minimized.

Does it take up a lot of room on my part?

No, our engine insulation only adds 3/8 of an inch to the overall part. We can customize the thickness for parts that have tighter clearance issues.

Is it flammable?

Absolutely not.

Permanent Insulation vs. Removable Insulation Wraps

Why is permanent insulation better?

Our permanent exhaust insulation solution is more durable, lasts longer, and drastically improves safety over the removable insulation. Many times during engine maintenance removable insulation is removed from the exhaust and improperly placed at the time of re-assembly. Our permanent solution takes up less room in your engine compartment and allows for much easier engine maintenance.
